<title>11th Annual Grand Valley Disc Golf Club Ice Bowl</title>
  <link>http://www.gvdiscgolf.org/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=53</link>
<description>It&#039;s that icy season of year again. It&#039;s time to assist the Catholic Outreach Soup Kitchen with feeding the hungry, and to help less fortunate kids get a backpack of food to tide them over on weekends.It&#039;s time to step up and chuck a few discs (and bucks) for the 11th annual Grand Valley Disc Golf Club Ice Bowl fundraiser tournament.

In 2010 we raised $4,700 in cash and 1,480 lbs of food goods.
With the food banks buying power, every $1.00 = $ 5.00 of food.
Yes... that&#039;s right! We generated over $2o,ooo dollars in retail donations last year!
Lets do it again in twenty eleven!

When: February 12th, 2011, 9-10 am check in, players meeting at 10:30 am, 11:00 am is the tee off. Get there at check in!

Format: 27 holes of Random Draw Doubles; consisting of 9 Holes Best Shot; then 9 Holes Alternate Shot; and finally 9 Holes Best Score.
Details and Registration: Donation of $25.00. First 50 paid entries receive a custom stamped Ice Bowl disc.
Additional Information and pre-order Ice Bowl Gear: Triple Play Records, 530 Main Street, Downtown Grand Junction.
Why: It&#039;s a fun way to raise food &amp;amp; money for the local food bank and the Kid&#039;s First Backpack Program.

The after party silent auction will be held at the Livery Saloon in downtown Palisade.
The silent auction of some really great stuff will help raise even more money for the charities.
So please come out to support our causes and be sure to attend the after party to bid on some items and spread some cheer!.

See you there!

  <title>Snowmass Peaks and Valley Series</title>
  <link>http://www.gvdiscgolf.org/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=49</link>
  <description>Hi all-

The flyer for the Snowmass tourney for the Peaks and Valleys point series is attached. CLICK HERE. The tournament is scheduled for Sunday, 7/18. We are getting discounted lift tickets ($17 instead of $24) as long as we get at least 20 players. I am asking that players call me to pre-register so that I know how many players are going to show up. They can also send me an entry form with their payment prior to the tourney. I will be taking entry fees the morning of the tourney.

We will be playing both courses - the red course in the morning and the yellow course in the afternoon. We will have to do tee-times since the courses both play from the top of the gondola and finish at the bottom of the hill. The groups will stay the same for both rounds, since we will not have time to gather score cards and re-align the groups.

I will not be playing so I can coordinate things betwen rounds with each group. I will find a place near the base of the gondola for tourney central. Players will need to check in with me at the end of their first round, grab a quick lunch on their own, and then head back up the hill for the second round on the yellow course. Once the last group comes off the mountain after the second round, we will have the awards right away (since I won&#039;t be playing, I can get everything organized and ready).

Please print out some copies of the flyer to hand out to your local players and/or encourage players to get on the websites to get the flyers themselves. Again, I will need players to call me ahead of time so I can coordinate the lift tickets that we will need to purchase. Entry fees and lift tickets can be paid for the morning of the tournament.

As usual, check in will be from 8:00 to 9:00 with a players meeting at 9:30. The gondola starts running at 10:00, so we will send the first group up the mountain at that time, with the subsequent groups following. Remember, this is the week before the PDGA sanctioned event, so this will be a great opportunity to learn the course setup and get ready for the following week.

Brian and John, can you post the flyer on your respective websites for me? Again, I appreciate everyone&#039;s help. Looking forward to another great tournament!

Let me know should you have any questions.

See ya,

Mike Kalous
